Wednesday’s adventure took us  to the world’s first rock ‘n’ roll theme park and the newest attraction here in the Myrtle Beach area – Hard Rock Park.  Among the rides we experienced was The Moody Blues “Knights In White Satin – The Trip.”  All I can say is “far out, man.”  Janeen, the coaster enthusiast, loved “Led Zeppelin – The Ride” so much she rode it twice!  65 mph for 6 ½ minutes?  ... Great weather continues along the Grand Strand, although there is a better chance of rain Thursday…thanks to Fay.  Last night we visited Medieval Times, where you eat with your fingers because utensils hadn’t been invented – but you can get a refill on your Diet Pepsi.  Go figure.  It’s a fun show with good knights and bad, horses, jousting, a king and a princess (among others).  With us there, there was also Queen Janeen and me – a Kentucky Colonel.  ... Hey, ya’ll, from the Redneck Riviera in my home state of SC.  It’s a sunny day on the coast around Garden City, SC, with temps about what they are in the Tri-state…low to mid80s.  Personally, I like it low to mid 90s here, but I’m not gonna complain.  Not raining – for now.

Took in the Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball game last night.  They’re the Atlanta Braves Class A minor league affiliate.  Right now, Janeen is actually PARASAILING as I ... Read More »

Married with Microphones

Chris O'Brien and Janeen Coyle
103.5 WGRR Cincinnati
Weekdays 5-9am

The WGRR morning team of Chris O’Brien and Janeen Coyle have been married for more than 20 years, and have worked together in some capacity for longer than that!

Chris & Janeen met while both worked at Cincinnati’s WKRQ in 1979.  They married 6 years later.

Chris began in radio while a teen in his native South Carolina, working in the south before being offered a job in Cleveland while in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Chris moved from Cleveland to Cincinnati in 1974.  Except for doing afternoons at Chicago’s WMET 1977-78, Chris was with WKRQ for nearly 13 years.  He was named Best Radio Voice by Cincinnati Magazine and a Billboard Personality of the year nominee. Chris joined WGRR in 1991.  (Little known fact:  Chris was the first announcer for the Jerry Springer Show when it began – yikes!)

Janeen joined WKRQ in 1979 while attending the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory Of Music.  She began with overnights, worked middays, and later moved to afternoon drive where she remained until 1988.  From there Janeen did talk radio, hosting the very popular Chick Talk show.  Janeen co-hosted morning drive with on WKRC until she was contacted about joining Chris in 1995 and forming the unique husband & wife team.  The two even did a daily live morning “watercooler” segment, simulcast on Cincinnati’s WCPO-TV for four years.

Chris & Janeen are very involved in the community, appearing at fundraising events and supporting the Arthritis Foundation, SPCA, Diabetes Association, Breast Cancer Awareness (Chris's mom is a survivor), Feed The Children, Cincinnati Association for the Blind, among others in the tri-state area.

Their son, Dylan, who attends the University of Cincinnati, has been a part of their show since he was born!  And not to be forgotten, Frank-The-Pug, also noses his way in!
