Finally!  My Dancing Shoes have arrived.  i capitalize the words "Dancing Shoes," because I am going to name them Chita and Charo!  Hoping they will give me some latin rhythm!  I can't tell you what i went through to get these shoes.  Hours on the internet looking for pink ballroom shoes.  There are a lot for children, but not for women. Lots of red, no pink.  Then there's the heel. I knew I wanted to be a little taller when I dance on April 14th for Dancing for the Stars, however I don't want to fall!  So a thicker heel was not easy to find in a ready made pink shoe.  So i had to custom order Chita and Charo!  After hours of looking, I managed to find a reasonably priced shoe ( for a 90 second dance) with a heel that wouldn't throw out my back!  No one wants to see a 52 year old woman in a 4 inch stiletto heel flat on her face. At some point in life you must surrender to your knees!  I hope by naming my shoes after these two hot, confident Latin dynamos, my girls won't fail me come performance time!

I will just give you this hint about my outfit.  it is Pink...very pink!

Well just about a month away from my "Dancing for the Stars" event at Music Hall Ballroom.  When I first agreed to do it, I was told "Oh it's easy, you can do the Electric Slide, right?"  Uh well no I can't.  i am always the one at wedding receptions behind everyone trying to hide.  So since January, I have been learning the Cha Cha Cha and practicing in front of my mirror at home, where I am animated, fun and exciting.  At Arthur Murray Blue Ash, I'm a little more subdued.  It's a far cry to dance with someone else and try to remember what you are doing than practicing in your bedroom, alone.  After a couple of lessons a month, i think I am finally starting to get it.  It really is about muscle memory.  Like learning to walk or ride a bike.  When you stop thinking so hard, your body just takes over.  Funny though, once my feet started working, then I had to add my arms.  Now that was a problem, controlling my feet, arms and brain was just too much.  So it's back in front of the mirror again until my arms behave themselves. They are getting the hang of it and my brain is starting to have fun too!  Maybe next year Chris will dance, although he still has trouble with that "walking part,"  let alone dancing!  If he were to fracture something, at least he could get out of mowing the lawn again this summer!  I will be blogging about my final month.  My outfit, my shoes and of course my booty!  As my teacher Jeremy says,  shoulders relaxed, chin up, arms out and remember "the party's downstairs!"  Which means shake your groove thing, small steps, Cha Cha Cha, but only from the waist down!  Something else to remember!

Chris O'Brien and Janeen Coyle
103.5 WGRR Cincinnati
Weekdays 5-9am

The WGRR morning team of Chris O’Brien and Janeen Coyle have been married for 26 years, and have worked together in some capacity for longer than that!

Chris & Janeen met while both worked at the same Cincinnati radio station in 1979.

Chris began in radio while a teen in his native South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!), working in the south before being offered a job in Cleveland while in ChattanoogaTennessee.  Chris moved from Cleveland to Cincinnati in 1974.  Except for doing afternoons at WMET 1977-78, Chris was with WKRQ for nearly 13 years.  He was named Best Radio Voice by Cincinnati Magazine and aBillboard Personality of the year nominee. Chris joined WGRR in 1991.  (Little known fact:  Chris was the first announcer for the Jerry Springer Show when it began – yikes!)  Chris is also an honorary Kentucky Colonel, son!

Janeen joined WKRQ in 1979 while attending the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory Of Music.  She began with overnights, worked middays, and later moved to afternoon drive where she remained until 1988.  From there Janeen did talk radio, hosting the very popular Chick Talk show.  Janeen co-hosted morning drive with on WKRC until she was contacted about joining Chris in 1995 and forming the unique husband & wife team.  The two even did a daily live morning “watercooler” segment, simulcast on WCPO-TV for several years.

Chris & Janeen are very involved in the community, appearing at fundraising events and supporting the Arthritis Foundation, SPCA, Diabetes Association, Breast Cancer Awareness (Chris's mom is a survivor), Ronald McDonald House Charities, Cincinnati Association for the Blind, and Kindervelt, among others in the tri-state area.

Their son, Dylan, a recent graduate of the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music, is with FOX19.  They have the rambunctious "Tank The Pug," too!
