I didn't know Mother's Day weekend was going to be so busy.

I took all three kids shopping for plants and a new bird bath for mom.  Nothing like three kids fighting over who carries what in the Lowe's garden center. 

Then, it was off to Little League baseball.  Who exactly thought it was a good idea for 9 and 10 year olds to steal bases when the catcher can't make the throw to second?  Thanks for the marathon games of watching kids run around the bases unabated.

Then it was home to finish the yard work and cook dinner for my wife.  Sunday was spent doing the laundry and visiting my mother-in-law in Dayton and finally back home to watch the end of the golf tournament.  (Finally, some "me" time.)

YouTube had to take down the video of Mr. Red Legs falling off the ATV at the game this past Wednesday but that doesn't mean it hasn't spread all over the internet.

I was talking on the air today about it being Bob Seger's birthday and how loud I had "Ramblin', Gamblin' Man" turned up in the WGRR air studio.

Here's to all the folks who do the office work at WGRR.  Without them nothing would get done.  If you do office work, here's to you too. 

The Reds 9-12 start was enough for Wayne Krivsky to lose his job as General Manager.  I think the writing was on the wall once Walt Jocketty started cashing a paycheck.  If you're not familiar with him, Jocketty was the architect of the St. Louis teams for so many years.

Man, am I glad I bought an SUV a year ago...$3.59 a gallon for gas, great move.

I'm starting to feel guilty about putting stuff in the trash with the recent onslaught of "being green" ads that we're seeing. We recycle at home, try to re-use as much as we can, even got some of those fluorescent light bulbs that the kids put in around the house.  Now Paul McCartney wants me to stop eating meat.  That's where I draw the line.  Meat tastes good, turnips do not.

One of the worst polluters I can remember was the mom of one of my friends as a kid.  She didn't believe in paying for trash pick up so she burned everything in their fireplace.  I mean everything, including plastic bottles.  Her carbon footprint is still being felt 30 years later.  She did let us play football in the house so she did have that going for her.

William Johnson of Houston, Texas is now in the running for the 2008 Dumbest American award.  Not only did he have a 6-foot alligator for the ride along, other dangerous reptiles were onboard.  Follow the link for knuckleheaded goodness.

The NFL has released the schedule for the Bengals and it looks like rough and tumble.  The league must like the Bengals on the road the first week, its happened four out of the last five years.  Getting both of the best divisions in the AFC (South) and the NFC (East) will make it difficult for the entire AFC North...better win those division games.

Instant amateur analysis - 9-7 for any AFC North team could win the division.  At least the Bengals don't have to play New England - the Steelers do.

Time to dig out my good suit for its bi-annual wearing, for the SPCA Cincinnati Fur Ball at the convention center this weekend.  One reason most guys get into radio is so they don't have to wear suits and ties but this event is special and my wife likes to get dressed up every now and then.

We have two SPCA dogs at home and this event is always a fun one - we came home with a Boston Terrier from it last year. 

The Everything Pets Expo is going on at the same time at the Duke Energy Center this weekend with proceeds benefitting the SPCA.  They do great work there and need your support to help with their expansion in Sharonville.  The weather's going to be crummy this weekend so make plans to be there.

Baseball season is here again - will the Reds break their streak of seven losing seasons or will we be chomping at the bit for NFL training camp come July?

My completely unsolicited opinion - the Reds will probably be a little better than last year, finishing around .500.  In the NL Central, that should be good enough to keep them in contention into September.  Milwaukee or Chicago will probably take the division crown.

It's the first opening day since 2000 that I haven't been to the game - it feels kind of strange sitting in my office instead of heading down to the In-Between for pre-game "festivities" and then to the ballpark.

Saw Bruce Springsteen for the first time this past Saturday night at the U.S. Bank arena.  I thought it was a good blend of old and new songs including a couple gems that I wasn't expecting.  It was a packed house including the seats behind the stage that had a good view of the stage, but mostly the back of the band.  Bruce did start almost an hour late which was a little disappointing, especially since I'm 6'4" and had to sit in those narrow aisles at the Arena.  "She's The One", "Badlands" and "Glory Days" were three of my favorites from the show.  His new songs fit right in with his classic material.
